Set out for a picturesque village inspired by the traditional Japanese countryside. In Village in the Shade, you set your own pace of life: cultivate the land, raise farm animals, fish in tranquil waters, and get to know the locals.
However, an unsettling atmosphere lurks beneath the peaceful everyday life. Instead of relying on classic horror jump scares, the game builds on gradually intensifying unease, strange events, and mysterious rules that govern life in the village. The hand-drawn visuals combine cuteness, melancholy, and nostalgia with the mysterious world of Japanese folklore and yokai creatures.
